“This piece was primarily a trust exercise, in which she told viewers she would not move for six hours no matter what they did to her. She placed 72 objects one could use in pleasing or destructive ways, ranging from flowers and a feather boa to a knife and a loaded pistol, on a table near her and invited the viewers to use them on her however they wanted. Initially, Abramović said, viewers were peaceful and timid, but it escalated to violence quickly. “The experience I learned was that … if you leave decision to the public, you can be killed… I felt really violated: they cut my clothes, stuck rose thorns in my stomach, one person aimed the gun at my head, and another took it away. It created an aggressive atmosphere. After exactly 6 hours, as planned, I stood up and started walking toward the public. Everyone ran away, escaping an actual confrontation.” This piece revealed something terrible about humanity, similar to what Philip Zimbardo’s Stanford Prison Experiment or Stanley Milgram’s Obedience Experiment, both of which also proved how readily people will harm one another under unusual circumstances.” This performance showed just how easy it is to dehumanize a person who doesn’t fight back, and is particularly powerful because it defies what we think we know about ourselves. I’m certain that no one reading this believes the people around him/her are capable of doing such things to another human being, but this performance proves otherwise.”
When you’re unhappy, you get to pay a lot of attention to yourself. And you get to take yourself oh so very seriously. Your truly happy people, which is to say, your people who truly like themselves, they don’t think about themselves very much. Your unhappy person resents it when you try to cheer him up, because that means he has to stop dwellin’ on himself and start payin’ attention to the universe. Unhappiness is the ultimate form of self-indulgence.Tom Robbins (via rushofgold)

-.. I just think there’s this, love that you strive for your entire life for and you’re worried that you’re never gonna get it and you try your best to be the best that you can be, so you can find somebody to be with. And then you find it, and everything makes sense. Your happiness and your success isn’t as important anymore, because it’s all about the other person, but the other persons happiness and success, makes you the happiest you could ever be..Kaelyn Petras (x)
How do you survive?
You just do.
There is no other choice,
no other viable options.
You throw yourself into it,
and make a mess along the way.
Gain a few too many scars,
break some things,
you find yourself with
a couple of friends
and a few precious tools.
You just have to.
kinda wanna go on a date, kinda wanna get hit by a truck too
A Koala reflecting on his sins, his triumphs, and the inevitability of death.
Nothing gold can stay.
YOU CAME TO THE WRONG NEIGHBORHOOD, MOTHERFUCKER
THAT IS THE ANGRIEST ZEBRA I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE
IT GETS FUNNIER THE MORE I WATCH IT
